About the property
This historic sixteenth-century castle offers an exceptional stay along the Tuscan coast, combining noble heritage with modern comfort. Set amid olive groves and overlooking the Etruscan coastline toward the Island of Elba, the property accommodates large groups seeking privacy, history, and refined living. Guests enjoy expansive indoor and outdoor spaces, a private swimming pool with jacuzzi, air-conditioned bedrooms, and attentive services designed to create an unforgettable Tuscan retreat.
Dating back to 1529, this former residence of the Grand Duke of Tuscany has been carefully restored under the supervision of the Monuments and Fine Arts Office, preserving its architectural and artistic legacy. Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a grand entry hall adorned with oil paintings and antique furnishings, including an eighteenth-century wooden table. Adjacent living areas include an intimate sitting room with fireplace and bar, richly furnished with damask sofas, antiques, and international television.
A bright ceramic-tiled dining room provides a refined setting for shared meals. The castle unfolds across multiple levels connected by two staircases, one of which is a grand staircase decorated with antique suits of armor. Bedrooms and suites are distributed throughout the property, including historically decorated suites, terrace rooms, attic accommodations with exposed wooden beams, and additional bedrooms located in a separate wing of the castle.
Outdoor living is equally impressive, with a manicured rose garden, lawn areas furnished for relaxation, and shaded dining spaces for al fresco meals. Below the garden lies the enclosed swimming pool area, overlooking terraced olive groves and shaded by centuries-old maritime pine trees. A hot tub is located near the pool, creating a serene space for relaxation during warm Tuscan days.
All bedrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with minibars, safes, televisions, and courtesy bathroom kits. Bathrooms are hand-painted with travertine marble and stocked with towels and hairdryers.
A car is recommended due to the rural setting. Campiglia Marittima town is approximately 3 kilometers away, with the nearest train station about 5 kilometers from the property. A bus stop is located around 400 meters along the main road. Pisa and Florence airports are reachable by car, at approximately 70 kilometers and 150 kilometers respectively. On-site parking is available.
The property includes daily cleaning of bedrooms and lounges five days per week, excluding kitchen cleaning if guests use the kitchen. Welcome drinks are provided upon arrival. The swimming pool is seasonal, typically open from late May through October. Additional services such as chef service, guided tours, wine tastings, horseback riding, golf, cooking classes, massages, chauffeur services, and boat trips can be arranged upon request and are not included in the rental price. The property can accommodate larger groups beyond the standard occupancy with prior arrangement.
